1 Thessalonians 2:13 – For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
Paul is deeply thankful for the Thessalonians reception and acceptance of the message, a powerful example of his selflessness. Most of us want others to believe what we say simply because we say it. But man’s word forms a shaky foundation for faith. Only God can be fully trusted, and it is only when His word is trusted that results are produced in your heart and life. This is what happened to the Thessalonians, the word was working effectively in their lives because they believed, Paul was thankful for their strong belief.
There are two ways of dealing with the written word of God. First, there is the rejection of the word, the attitude of denial of its truth and effectiveness in your life. Second, there is the acceptance of the word, the attitude of submission to the truth and faith in its power over every situation. Where do you find yourself falling in these two positions today, rejection or submission? The challenge for you this week is to mix faith with what you know is true in the word of God. When you get tired, by faith believe you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. When you get scared, by faith believe that perfect love casts out all fear. When you feel frustrated, by faith believe that Jesus can calm all your storms. Finally, when you feel held back, believe that God will send an angel to break your chains and set you free. Read His word and believe His word. I am thankful to God for you. May God richly bless you his week.
Have a godly week,
